Knights & Lady Knights Golf Battle Weather and Course
Morganton, NC – The Kentucky Christian golf teams traveled to Silver Creek Plantation Course for the Montreat College Spring Invitational and found the course wasn't the only opponent for the tournament as the weather dictated a shortened play schedule.
The men played the course to a yardage of 6907 and par 72. The aforementioned weather caused the tournament to be shortened to a 27-hole finish. With 46 players teeing it up on the men's side, KCU posted the following results:
T36-Caleb Castle 91 44 +27
T38-Matthew Miller 90 46 +28
40-Collin Gay 96 44 +32
For the women, the course was set to 5827 yards and as with the men, par 72. With a larger field of 50 players, the Lady Knights carded the best placement in the tournament as Elizabeth Henline finished in a tie for 16th place. The KCU ladies posted the following scores:
T16-Elizabeth Henline 97 51 +40
42-Sidney Trimble 121 56 +68
43-Mallori Webb 114 64 +70
KCU head men's coach Steve Kennedy said, "I couldn't be more proud of all these young golfers. After battling horrible weather conditions for over five hours, the event was changed from a 36-hole tournament to a 27-hole tournament. Battling temps in the high 30's and a constant rain our Knights and Lady Knights never quit trying to shoot the lowest possible score regardless of the conditions."
Both teams return to action in the Shawnee State University Invitational on March 17-18 at the Shawnee Golf Resort in Friendship, OH.
