Knights Indoor T&F Competes at Wittenberg
Springfield, OH – The Kentucky Christian University indoor track and field team entered the Wittenberg Tiger Opener, as did several teams, for their first meet of the 2019-20 indoor season but there was one difference this season … it is KCU's first!
The men's team had several Top-10 placements led by their sprints. In the 60M Dash, the Knights placed four runners in the top six runners. Tyquan Flemming (FR/Cincinnati, Oh) won the event with a time of 7.00 sec flat followed by a 3rd place finish by Lavell Henry (NA/Willard, NC) (FR/Burgaw, NC) (NA/Willard, NC) (FR/Burgaw, NC) (7.17), Mahkel Henry (7.22) in 5th and Tyson Hall (NA/Prichard, WV) (FR/Ceredo, WV) (NA/Prichard, WV) (FR/Ceredo, WV) (7.27) in 6th. The 500M Dash featured a 4th place time for Tanner Owens (NA/Huntington, WV) (FR/Wayne, WV) (NA/Huntington, WV) (FR/Wayne, WV) of 1:14.69
Moving into the some of the other running events, the 800M distance saw Bennett Hodson (FR/Leesburg, OH) take a 6th place finish with a time of 2:04.86 with the KCU relay team in the same distance place 2nd with the team of Henry, M., Flemming, Hall and Henry, L running a 1:31.4. The final running event in which Kentucky Christian placed runners was the mile as James Overholser (NA/Sharpsburg, KY) (5:09.99) took 3rd and Joshua Watkins (NA/Lexington, KY) ran a 5:35.99 that was good enough for 5th.
In the field, the efforts of Flemming (6.63M) and Hall (6.58M) in the long jump earned them a 2nd and 5th place finish, respectively.
On the women's side, Emily Brackob (NA/Taylorsville, KY) and Haleigh Fuller (NA/Proctorville, OH) earned 3rd and 4th place finishes in the mile with times of 6:35.99 and 6:51.72.
Maggie Miller (FR/Greenup, KY) finished 10th in the weight throw with her best toss of the day of 11.80M. In the high jump, Jordann Hatten (NA/Prichard, WV) cleared 1.4M which was good enough for 9th.
