Knights Cross Country Runs in Louisville
Louisville, KY – Both Kentucky Christian University cross country teams competed at the Greater Louisville Classic. The men finished 39th out of 57 and while the women didn't qualify for a team score, Sierra Poppell (NA/Sheperdsville,KY) ran an outstanding race.
On a men's 8K course with 515 competitors, Evan Leist (NA/Beaver, OH) (25:51.3) led the Knights with a with a 57th place finish. James Overholser (NA/Sharpsburg, KY) (173rd) and Bennett Hodson (FR/Leesburg, OH) (182nd) finished within six seconds of each other with 27:21.2 and 27:27.2 times, respectively. Rounding out the rest of the KCU times were Thomas Breeze (NA/Greenup, KY)'s 29:34.5 and Joshua Watkins (NA/Lexington, KY)' 33:35.6.
Competing in the women's highest division, Poppell finished 53rd out of 343 total competitors with a 5K time of 17:58.8 against runners representing 34 NCAA I programs of the 39 teams entered. Julia Graves (NA/Winchester, KY) 21:49.0 time placed her in 367th of the 534 who ran in the women's blue division.
Both teams compete next in the Wilmington College Jenna Strong Invitational on October 11th.
