Softball Splits with Columbia International
Grayson, KY – In the final Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) home doubleheader for Kentucky Christian’s softball team, the Lady Knights hosted the Rams of Columbia International University. When the day’s competition had finished, the two teams owned one victory each. KCU took the opener, 14-6 (6 innings) while the Rams bounced back to grab the second game, 5-7.
Game 1
- The Lady Knights produced eight extra-base hits and 14 RBIs.
- Hannah Ison led the offense, as she was 3-5 with two doubles, a triple, and a stolen base. Her four RBIs led all players and she scored a run.
- Also with three hits (2b), Kaytlin Leyvas scored two runs and drove in one.
- Katelyn Pavey (2b) scored two runs and drove in another two while Victoria Breckler accounted for three RBIs and a run scored.
- Blackburn earned the win, surrendering six earned runs, striking out five and walking two. This was yet another complete-game victory.
Game 2
- Even with a frantic late-game comeback to tie the game, KCU could not squeeze out a win in the second game.
- Leyvas was 2-4 with another double. She scored a run and drove in one as well.
- Emma Fromm, Breckler, and Pavey accounted for the remainder of the RBIs.
- Caroline Donithan got the loss. She allowed five earned runs while striking out two and walking three.
Who's Up Next
The Lady Knights hit the road as they travel to Union College next Tuesday for a twin-bill with the Bulldogs. The doubleheader is set for 1 & 3 PM.
