Baseball Sweeps Wright State-Lake

Grayson, KY – Kentucky Christian hosted the Lakers of Wright State University-Lake for the first two games of their three-game series today with the Knights taking both games for the Day 1 sweep. KCU won the first game 7-0 and then proceeded to outlast the Lakers, 6-5 in 10 innings.
Game 1
- Justin Legg drove in three runs in leading KCU in that statistical column while going 1-3 at the plate.
- Also collecting a hit (triple) in three attempts, Shade Hutchinson scored two runs and drove in another two during his day’s work.
- Cam Marushi had the Knights only other extra-base hit with a double.
- Sam Goude went five complete innings to claim the win. He struck out six and walked two.
- Zach Pope put in two innings of relief work, striking out two without walking a batter. The two pitchers combined to surrender six hits.
Game 2
- Cody Holub and Yan Rivera had eerily similar line scores, as they were both 2-4 from the dish, driving in one and scoring a single run each.
- With the game knotted at five in the bottom of the 10th inning, Tucker Sorenson delivered the walk-off hit with a single to centerfield, scoring Holub.
- Cole Riley got the win in relief of Elijah Spurlock as the two combined to spread eight hits and three earned runs over the 10 innings. They also struck out 16 with only three total walks.
Who's Up Next
The Knights will conclude the series on Saturday with a single 9-inning game against WSL. The game’s first pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
