KCU Wraps-Up Series Win over St. Andrews
April 21, 2023
Grayson, KY – With the first two games of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) series between St. Andrews University at Kentucky Christian being split on Thursday, today’s 9-inning contest would determine the series winner. The KCU Knights posted three different 3-run innings on their way to a lop-sided win in the rubber game of the series, taking the third game, 12-1.
Game 3
- Elijah Spurlock earned his first complete-game victory. He faced 29 batters, surrendering just four hits and one earned run, while striking out six and walking three in this 7-inning, shortened game.
- KCU senior, Tucker Sorenson just missed going for the “cycle” with a single in the first, followed by a home run in the second and driving in a run with a double in the fifth. In all, he was 3-5, scored three runs, and drove in three as well.
- Evan Juniper had a huge game as he drove in five runs with two extra-base hits, one being a mammoth 3-run home run in the bottom of the 4th inning. This after driving two (double) in the first. It was his second round-tripper in as many days. He also scored two runs.
- From his three-hole position, Yan Rivera was perfect at the plate going 3-3 with a double. He scored two runs and drove in one.
- The Kentucky Christian offense had a season-high eight extra-base hits in the series-clinching win.
