Bio

Austin Helms enters his first season as Head Esports Coach at Kentucky Christian University, bringing a strong background in athletics administration, business operations, and a passion for building community through gaming.

 

Austin earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sports Management from the University of Pikeville in 2019, where he was also a four-year member of the baseball program. He went on to complete his master’s degree in Sports Management with an emphasis in Business Administration and Marketing from Campbellsville University in 2020.

 

In addition to his coaching role, Austin serves as a Staff Accountant – Accounts Receivable Specialist in the Business Office at Kentucky Christian University. He is also actively involved in the athletic department, assisting with game day operations through stat keeping and event support.

 

Prior to joining KCU, Austin gained valuable experience at Marshall University, where he served as Assistant Director of Facilities and Game Day Operations. His work in athletics has equipped him with a strong foundation in leadership, organization, and student-athlete development.

 

A passionate gamer, Austin is committed to building a Christ-centered esports program that fosters both competitive excellence and spiritual growth. His vision is to create a welcoming environment where students can develop their skills, build meaningful relationships, and grow in their faith.

 

 

Austin resides in Raceland, Kentucky with his wife, Whitley, and their two children, Easton and Scarlett. He and his family attends Raceland Christian Church.
