Bio
Alex Collier enters his second season as Defensive Pass Game Coordinator, Defensive Backs Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator at Kentucky Christian University. He has quickly established himself as a developer of defensive backs and a contributor to high-performing defensive units.
In his first season at KCU (2025), Collier made an immediate impact on defensive production and player development. He coached Second Team All-Conference cornerback Jalen Price and helped develop safeties Jacob Cain and Javid Gayle, who both finished among the top 15 in tackles. He also contributed to a defensive unit that ranked Top 10 in the NAIA in defensive touchdowns, reflecting an aggressive, playmaking identity.
Prior to KCU, Collier spent two seasons at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida, serving as Special Teams Coordinator and Cornerbacks Coach. He helped lead the program to a 6–4 record in 2023, its best mark in over two decades, and coached All-Conference SIAC defensive back Stephon French.
Collier’s experience spans both the collegiate and high school levels. He served as Defensive Backs Coach at Ed White High School, coaching a three-star Iowa State commit, and held collegiate roles at East Central University, Bemidji State University, and Mercer University. While at Mercer, he worked with the safeties and assisted in developing Hero Sports All-American Lance Wise.
Earlier in his career, Collier coached at Finlandia University and Carroll University, contributing to a top-five pass defense, and worked with defensive backs at Westside High School and his alma mater, First Coast High School. He also gained off-field experience at Jacksonville University.
Collier began his collegiate coaching career at Troy University as a defensive student assistant (2017–18) working with the cornerbacks, after serving as an assistant video coordinator and assistant to the director of player personnel. As a member of the program, he was part of two bowl teams (Dollar General Bowl, 2016; New Orleans Bowl, 2017) and a Sun Belt Conference Championship team in 2017.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Journalism (2018) and a Master’s degree in Strategic Communications (2020) from Troy University. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Collier is a graduate of First Coast High School.
