Bio

Joby Sullivan enters his third season as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Kentucky Christian University, where he has engineered one of the most dramatic offensive turnarounds in collegiate football. Since his arrival in January 2024, Sullivan has transformed the Knights’ offense into one of the most explosive and efficient units in the NAIA, increasing production from 4.6 points per game in 2023 to 35.6 in 2025 while implementing a Pro Spread attack built on tempo, efficiency, and vertical explosiveness.

Sullivan’s impact was immediate. In 2024, the Knights averaged 28.1 points per game, then the third highest mark in program history, while setting records in passing touchdowns (34), completion percentage (58.9%), and team passing efficiency (134.69). Quarterback Jett Engle set single season school records with 2,974 passing yards and 31 touchdowns, along with multiple single game marks. That same season, wide receiver DJ Simmons earned Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year and First Team All Conference honors, leading the league in receiving yards (1,045), yards per game (95.0), touchdowns (12), and yards per catch (19.4), while tight end Eli Archer also earned All Conference recognition.

In 2025, the offense reached another level, producing the highest scoring unit in program history at 35.6 points per game while averaging 423.6 total yards per game. The season included a signature 35 to 27 win over NCAA Division II Central State. Quarterback Jackson Wasik delivered the most productive season in school history, setting records in passing yards (3,295), completion percentage (64.6%), passing touchdowns (34), passing yards per game (306.9), and total offense (3,725), while accounting for 41 total touchdowns. The Knights also set team records in passing touchdowns (36), completion percentage (63.2%), yards per attempt (9.0), and team passing efficiency (165.8). Sullivan was named AAC Assistant Coach of the Year.

Prior to KCU, Sullivan served as Wide Receivers Coach at Hiram College and as Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Finlandia University, where he helped build the roster from eight players to nearly 90 while overseeing offensive development and special teams. His offenses at Finlandia produced multiple school records, including the program’s first Division III National Player of the Week. He began his coaching career at the high school level in Michigan, contributing to a playoff berth at Norway High School and the first undefeated season in West Iron County High School history.

A former defensive back at Northern Michigan University, Sullivan earned All GLIAC Academic honors and holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He and his wife, Amanda, have been married for 15 years and have five children: Brooklynn, Liam, Hudson, Emmie Jo, and Bode.
