Cross Country at WVU Tech
Beckley, WV - The men's and women's cross country teams made their way up I-64 to compete in the WVU Tech Golden Bear Classic and set a course record along with a 4th place finish.
Evan Leist led the men's team to the overall fourth-place finish with a time of 13:11.4 which was good enough to take 4th individually. Rounding out the remainder of the team's top five finishers were James Overholser (13:37.6/10th), Bennett Hodson (14:16.5/21st), Thomas Breeze (15:20.7/32nd) and Joshua Watkins (16:11.4/37th). Zachery Grose finished the course with a very respectable 16:32.8.
Woman's cross country did not have a team score but did make some noise as Sierra Poppell set the course record with her time of 15:11.2, which was a full 1:23 faster than the next best women's time. Julia Graves (17:54.6) ran a very solid time for her first effort in this young race season.
Both teams race again at the University of Rio Grande Patty Forgey Invitational on September 21st.
