KCU Battles Division I Morehead State in Hard-Fought Contest
Morehead, KY – On Saturday, Kentucky Christian University traveled to take on NCAA Division I FCS opponent Morehead State, and the Knights proved they belonged on the field, battling tough in a competitive 45–28 contest.
From the opening whistle, KCU showed no fear against the larger, deeper Eagles squad. Head Coach Jason Aubry praised his team's effort: "I was very proud of the way our young men fought. We matched their energy and execution for four quarters, but ultimately their depth and size up front were the difference."
The Knights' offense delivered explosive plays throughout the evening. Running back Jovari Gamble electrified the crowd with a 75-yard breakaway touchdown run, a highlight that demonstrated both his speed and KCU's ability to strike quickly. Quarterback Jackson Wasik continued his strong play, tossing three touchdown passes, all to wide receiver Jason Cobb, who showcased his big-play ability and chemistry with Wasik.
Despite the loss, the Knights' 28-point performance against a Division I program underscored the growth and resilience of the team. KCU's fight and refusal to back down against a larger opponent were clear signs of progress as the season continues.
"This was another step forward for us," Coach Aubry added. "Our clarity drives us to compete at the highest level — and our guys showed today that we're building something special. We want to be national champions in everything we do, and performances like this prove we're on that path."
The Knights will look to carry the lessons and momentum from this matchup into the rest of their season as they continue their climb toward excellence.
